The long, legendary and continuing saga of Walnut Grove Band...
The walnuts began to roll in 1999 and haven't really stopped moving since their trademark grooves began to appear. From time to time, the original roots rock and world-alternative music of Walnut Grove accelerates and morphs. The sound is solar-powered, soulful, amphibious and eternal. Named after a street in a once rural town devoured by suburbia, The Walnut Grove Band draws on traditional sounds, new sounds and inspirational real-life experiences when creating its boutique musical madness. The walnuts are always in favor of the soul-shakedown party and know how to make a studio sing too. It is important to remember that where there is a walnut, there is a way. It took the work of many to grow the Walnut Grove of today and that work will remain for all to enjoy, now and into the future. So, if you feel the need to exit your mind, Go Right Ahead.
A little about the current players in Walnut Grove Band v.2010:
John Stamat recorded and performed with Walnut Grove Band in 2003-2004 replacing Guy Stevens on bass guitar. In 2010, John returned to the grove, replacing some great players who held the bottom end steady thru the years ( Emil Cardiel, Dan Telvock and Joshua Papreck ). John resides in West Virginia, but has travelled extensively both domestically and internationally. Here in the USA, John has worked with Walnut Grove Band, Grickle Grass, Headbone and more. Mr Stamat can be heard on the Walnut Grove Band CD "The Walnut Groove".
T-roy the drummer worked with Walnut Grove Band from 2001-2003 at first as a percussionist and then eventually replacing Brad Thoesen on kit drums. In 2010, T-roy returned to the grove to continue holding the groove sustained by drummers Casey Firkin, Jerry Hammack, Perry Glass, Steve Sugrue, Ray Legnini and Dan Anderson. T-roy is known not just for working with bands such as Walnut Grove, Junk Nugget and Lunar Stew Trio, but also for his hand drumming instructional CDs. T-roy can be heard on select tracks on the Walnut Grove Band CD "Green Egg".
Mark Walnutt Stewart has been in the grove writing music, playing guitar and casting vocals to the wind since Day 1 and is glad to have John and T-roy in the grove too. The combined musical and life experience these three guys bring to the grove is beautiful.
